Going into the 2022 football season, LSU Wire will be looking at each scholarship player listed on the Tigers roster.
Over the preseason, each profile will cover where the player is from, how recruiting websites rated them coming out of high school, and what role they will play for Brian Kelly this season.
This team added a lot of transfers this offseason, and most of them came on the defensive side of the ball. However, this time we’re going to look at one of the offensive players added in Kyren Lacy, who stays within his home state after transferring in from Louisiana.

Depth Chart Overview
Lacy was a solid pickup for Louisiana and former coach Billy Napier in 2020, and he made an immediate impact as a true freshman, finishing with 365 yards and four touchdowns.
Big things were expected of him as a sophomore in Lafayette, but his catches and yards numbers dropped off, though he did raise his touchdown total to six as a sophomore. After a 2021 season that didn’t go as planned and the departure of Napier for Florida, he was one of the Ragin’ Cajun players to hit the portal.
He lands with LSU, where he could be a better fit in Mike Denbrock’s offense, as Louisiana mostly focused on the run game. However, seeing the field this year won’t be easy.
The Tigers return one of the top receivers in college football in Kayshon Boutte in addition to sophomores Malik Nabers, Jack Bech, Brian Thomas Jr. and Chris Hilton Jr.
The receiver group is one of this roster’s strengths, but Lacy adds to the depth here and could find more success in Baton Rouge if he gets enough reps to do so.
