The Brooklyn Nets held a 17-point lead on the road at TD Garden less than two minutes before halftime, but the Boston Celtics stormed back and dominated Brooklyn in the fourth quarter to take a commanding 2-0 series lead.
After his explosive Game 1 performance, Kyrie Irving was held to just 10 points on 4-of-13 shooting in 40 minutes, and Kevin Durant had another rough night from the field, shooting 4-of-17 against the league’s top-ranked defense .

Brooklyn held a five-point lead to start the fourth, but simply couldn’t score for the majority of the quarter, generating just six points in the first 10:07 of the period. Durant failed to score a point in the fourth until he converted at the free-throw line with 1:53 remaining, but by then the game was out of reach.
The series will resume on Saturday at the Barclays Center, with the Nets facing a must-win scenario. Here’s what fans and analysts had to say about Game 2:
if the Nets get swept, what type of slander should we prepare for? Clips blowing 3-1 to Nuggets? Losing Warriors 2016 Finals? somewhere in-between?

The Nets were up 17 points… Tatum was 5-16… Dragic & Bruce Brown combined for 41… and they lost going away.
Seems impossible given that they have the “most skilled duo in NBA history”… but it’s what happened.

Series is a long way from over, but seeing Boston succeed like this is a great reminder that the NBA regular-season product matters.
There were quite a few people who just assumed the Nets could flip a switch, and it’d make all the trends we’ve seen for months disappear.

Has been held to (13-41, .317) on field goal attempts in the series by the Celtics
Nets are winning any games if that continues

Nets really hired Steve Nash to have courtside seats and be a fan.

Boston has another level. Nets just couldn’t do anything against that defense. Awful shots.

Celtics defense has been incredible incredible. Ime coaching circles around Nash.
Never seen KD & Kyrie play so poorly. First time I can say Nets’ supporting cast did everything they could to win this game.
And… Boston hasn’t lost 4 out of 6 games since early January.

I picked Celtics in 5 for a reason… playoff basketball is so detailed and adjustment oriented… and the Nets have shown… very little of that

Nets in Game 1: 20 assists, 16 turnovers
Nets in Game 2: *16 assists, 14 turnovers
*Ties lowest this season
James Harden alone is averaging 10 APG and only 3 TOV through 2 games in the playoffs
Ball HOPPING without The Beard ground & pounding. This is Nets basketball.
