MLB DFS: High DraftKings and FanDuel every day Fantasy baseball picks, technique and recommendation for April 20, 2022

Early on this season, the Arizona Diamondbacks have the worst offensive numbers in Major League Baseball. They will try to get things turned around on Wednesday against Washington Nationals pitcher Erick Fedde, but perhaps the righty starter can provide value to MLB DFS lineups. Fedde is a more inexpensive option on sites like DraftKings and FanDuel than others like Carlos Rodon or Chris Bassitt, which can help daily Fantasy baseball players allocate capital elsewhere on tournament rosters.

In two starts against the Diamondbacks last season, Fedde went 2-0 with 13 strikeouts, and gave up just seven hits over 12 innings pitched. The only Arizona hitter with any measure of success against Fedde in the MLB DFS player pool on Wednesday might be Pavin Smith, who has a hit and a walk in four total at bats. Before you make your MLB DFS picks for Wednesday, be sure to check out the MLB DFS advice, strategy and projections from SportsLine daily Fantasy expert Mike McClure.

McClure is a daily Fantasy pro who has won almost $2 million in his career. And when it comes to daily Fantasy baseball, McClure is at his best. Recognized in the book “Fantasy Football (and Baseball) for Smart People: How to Turn Your Hobby into a Fortune” as a top MLB DFS player, McClure’s proprietary projection model simulates each game 10,000 times, taking factors such as matchups and recent results into account. This allows him to find the best values on every site.

On Tuesday, McClure highlighted Padres pitcher Joe Musgrove in his MLB DFS player pool on both FanDuel and DraftKings. The result: Musgrove allowed two runs, but struck out seven over 6.1 innings pitched to return 25.25 points on DraftKings and 44 points on FanDuel. Anybody that included him in their lineups was well on the way to a profitable day.

Now, with the 2022 MLB season in full swing, McClure has locked in his top MLB daily Fantasy picks for Wednesday, April 20. Head to SportsLine now to see them.

McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for April 20, 2022

One of McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for Wednesday is Minnesota shortstop Carlos Correa, who is listed at $4,900 on DraftKings and $3,000 on FanDuel. Correa batted in a run with a hit and a walk on Tuesday in the Twins’ series-opener against Kansas City. In the Twins’ series finale against Boston on Monday, he went 2-for-4 with a run in Minnesota’s 8-3 win.

The Twins continue their series against the Royals on Wednesday against lefty starter Daniel Lynch, who Correa has enjoyed some past success against. In six previous at bats against Lynch, Correa has two hits and an RBI. In four games at Kansas City last season, Correa finished with a home run, a double, two RBI and batting splits of .500/.588/.786.

Another part of McClure’s optimal MLB DFS strategy includes rostering Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers ($5,900 on DraftKings and $4,000 on FanDuel). Devers carries a major league-leading 10-game hitting streak into Wednesday’s home game against the Blue Jays. Toronto starting pitcher Jose Berrios has been good against Devers in past meetings, but the Sox standout is seeing the ball exceptionally well against right-handed starters to begin this year.

In his at bats against righty starting pitching, he has hit .345/.367/.621 with two home runs and four RBI. Devers has started this season hitting better on the road than at Fenway Park, but he finished as a more efficient hitter at home last season. Two of the three hits Devers has to his name from him against Berrios are doubles, and Berrios gave up two doubles to the Yankees in his start from him last Wednesday against New York.
